The boost fin does help me get out beyond the breaks more easily. I do feel the help when I'm trying to catch a wave. The wrist remote is hit and miss for starting and stopping the motor. Maybe due to the motor being so quiet, I'm never really sure if it's on when I need it, or off when I don't. I noticed that the propeller blades get a little sticky, and don't swivel after a session. I've had to take the propeller off after each session and set the tightness of each little blade screw. Not sure why. I use it at Huntington Beach near 17th, and Bolsa Chica on the south end. There isn't a lot of seaweed here, so I'm unsure what is making the propeller blades so sticky. All that said, it is helping this 66-year-old novice surfer get more waves, so I'm glad I bought the Boost.

Love it! Love it! We connected the fin to my SUP and tested it on the Colorado River in Yuma, AZ in February 2026. Please - have assisted paddling while going upstream into the current while towing and make sure your paddlers are leashed one behind the other, not side by side. This is not a trolling motor - do not become too dependent on it. Boost will run 2-3 minutes and then will power down. Downfall is "recharging/powering ON the fin" while on the water. Always carry that special screwdriver!
