To be honest, I was hesitant about cutting off BRAND NEW Lamkin Crosslines with only two rounds on them. Lamkins are a known commodity, and the only insight to Stick Grips were the ramblings of internet strangers.
So, there I stood in my garage, clubs with perfectly good grips in front of me, knife in hand, and grip tape by my side.
I was 50/50, leaning toward just playing the Lamkins until they were spent, when I happened to look out from my garage into my driveway. There, on the hood of my Jeep, was a Bald Eagle. As I contemplated my conundrum, he slowly turned to face me and gave me a reaffirming wink and a nod. Reassuring me that 'Murica is NEVER the wrong choice. It must have been his glorious presence, or his aura, as also at this same time, the Patriot on my Stick Grips putter grip snapped to the position of attention and looking straight into my soul, and shouted...
"your grandpa...your father's father, fought across the Pacific, in World War 2, your father lived off whatever he could carry thru the jungle during Vietnam, and YOU yourself, spent nights sleeping in a gas mask and puddles of your own sweat, to free the Kuwaiti people from the tyranny of Saddam....do you dare yet, to doubt?"
I very quickly returned his salute as I hooked my knife into that first Lamkin grip. Somewhere outside, and off in the distance, I could hear a Bald Eagle scream.
