It’s hard to find good wool socks that don’t dig into your ankle. Great Sox are the best!

Apparently, this navy medium sock is from an older production. It has a tighter weave than the new Vagden. The new Vagden is both looser weave and thicker wool. It's a bulkier sock and not as practical for business attire. McGregor produced a comparable product to the Vagden. It was made outside Canada (China) and had a lower wool content, 40% compared to 60%. It also had a finer yarn and tighter weave, like this older production Vagden.
These are supposed to be diabetic socks or nonbinding, "non-elastic". In fact, the new format does have an elastic running around the top, which tends to leave a line in your leg. Like the McGregor, the older product does not bind and doesn't rely on that elastic at the top or doesn't seem to.
It would be good to see this manufacturer return to the older format. Regardless, it remains the best available wool dress sock I have found at anywhere near a comparable price. It's marvelous to see that it's made in Canada.

Great Socks. Tops are not too tight for my feet, so they don't cut off circulation.
