Superb
With this Gi I’ve finally found a jacket that is comfortable and very soft. It doesn’t push on your back neck during aikitaiso, which is great if you try them hard. The overall quality is very high even although the fabric is light, doesn’t look so though. I love it, especially since it dries just in a day. The slim size is great too, it fits me perfectly. I couldn’t be happier of purchasing it. Thanks Seido
The good:
The gi (KS300) was packed and handled with care and the quality is apparent at a glance and confirmed by touch. It arrived quicker than I thought possible, just a few days (to the West Cost of the USA). The sleeve embroidery (English block, larger size) is done well and the sizing makes for clear readability without being obtrusive.
I have had this gi top for a little over a week and have been able to get a few vigorous trainings in while wearing it. The single layer (in comparison to judo style gi jackets/double layer) is lighter, breathes much more, and dry's quickly. The sturdiness feels like it will hold up for many years. It has an initial roughness that is common but as it warms up on the body it becomes soft and pliable while training. I'm guessing it will be soft all the time in just a few months of use and care.
The could be better:
The sizing. I ensured to measure as instructed and went up a full size to adjust for my broader shoulders and chest. This landed me as a 5 on the charts, which also aligns with other brand sizing that I've used for two decades. This gi is very chesty on me, to the point where I'm going to have a modesty tie installed at the sternum so I'm not exposed from mid belly and up. I'm a male who runs hot and generally pretty unconcerned with exposing some torso to cool down. I received another Japan made gi using the same sizing a few days ago and it does not have similar sizing concerns.
Overall:
I think that once I have a tie installed to this gi jacket, I will love having this in my rotation - especially on warmer days and higher intensity training sessions. If you're not someone with the frame of a American Footballer the sizing concerns will be less for you.
