I recently completed the Connecticut Pistol Permit Course taught by Jim from Barrel-Buddy, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. Jim is an outstanding instructor—patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about responsible firearm ownership. Throughout the course, he emphasized the core values of firearm safety, making sure every student clearly understood the proper handling of both pistols and revolvers. He broke down each component of the firearms in a way that was easy to understand, even for complete beginners. Jim made sure we not only learned the mechanics but also the “why” behind each safety rule, which really helped build confidence and respect for the process. The hands-on portion was well-structured and focused heavily on safe operation, proper technique, and responsible decision-making. I left the class feeling fully prepared, informed, and comfortable with the fundamentals of safe firearm handling.
