Washed Brown Brogue Lug Derby

These have the shape of a traditional brogue but feel much less formal because of the rugged sole and aged leather. They’ve become an easy choice for casual Fridays and weekend dinners. The textured finish needs a little more careful cleaning than smooth leather, but small marks blend in pretty well.

These were comfortable enough for a full afternoon of walking around downtown. The deep tread felt secure on wet pavement, and the open lacing gave me enough room across the top of my foot. The finish already looks worn-in, so these may not suit someone who wants a very clean dress-shoe appearance.

I like that every part of the brown upper has slightly different shading. The brogue details give the shoes a classic look, while the lug sole makes them feel more practical for everyday wear. They are a little heavier than my regular Derby shoes, though.
