Afraid at first, but strengthened through prayer

I was initially hesitant to order this book, worried that it might require more from me than I was willing to give. Now, I realize how mistaken I was. This book is not something you read once and then put on a shelf; it’s one you keep close. The prayers within it are clear, purposeful, and rooted in rightful authority. Fr. Ripperger explains the natural authority and correct application of these prayers. Each line carries the weight of the Catholic Church’s tradition and the confidence that comes from praying under its protection. Even though I haven’t finished the entire book — it's not that kind of book — I’ve found it reshaping my daily prayer life. Fr. Ripperger makes it clear that these prayers are neither shortcuts nor substitutes; they are intended for those living in the grace of the sacraments and striving to deepen their relationship with God. He encourages readers to develop their own prayer and sacramental life, as this foundation is critical for defending against the spiritual challenges we all face. He also emphasizes devotion to Mary, Our Lady of Sorrows, encouraging meditation on her Seven Sorrows. Through her intercession, he explains, we can receive graces for those sincerely seeking deliverance and peace. There is a profound sense of strength in that devotion—Mary’s presence guiding you toward God’s grace. This book is not merely something to read; it’s meant to be prayed. It becomes part of your spiritual armor, a tool to help you stand firm in faith and in the authority of the Catholic Church.
