Adorable, but changed my cat's personality?

I bought an XS for my 8 month old American shorthair. It seems to fit fine (after of course the initial struggle because, you know, it's a cat) but he kind of waddles and is afraid of jumping and play-fighting. I think it impedes his arm reach so he becomes more docile. Literally goes from naked demon cat to chill dude in the corner wearing a hoodie. Not sure why or how but it's our go-to whenever we want the "good" cat back 🤣
