A refinement rather than a reinvention

The Gryphon 2 is a refinement rather than a reinvention. It improves features, connectivity, power, and usability while maintaining a sound signature that is very similar to the original Gryphon. For most listeners, the audible differences will be subtle. One area where iFi consistently stands out, however, is customer support. Their technical support is responsive, knowledgeable, and provides excellent follow-up, making the overall ownership experience as impressive as the product itself.

I have quite of few portable dacs chord mojo 2 earmen l-amp b17 so-forth but I have to say the clarity soundstage is very impressive the only fault I have with it is because we all hear differently the upper treble is just a little bit too bright for me but otherwise a very versatile well rounded Swiss- army knife portable dac if I did it again!

Just what I needed

I was hearing a lot of distorted bass notes with my Dan Clark Noire closed headphones using the HipDAC 3. I was worried I had damaged my headphone with gaming sounds but hoped it was a power issue since DCNs are rather power hungry. Boy did this fix that problem! Even with Xbass it still sounds great. I like the display and the touch screen controls and the option for dual function cable (one cable for charging and sound). I’m not sure when to use which filters, but that’s on me. And I like seeing the info about the source audio to be sure I have the best settings on my Mac. When I first saw this site with its slick moving web graphics and the usual tech bombast, I wasn’t sure how it would translate into listening for someone like me who enjoys good sound but is not really an audiophile. But yes to clarity, bass and sound stage beyond a doubt.
