Aventish Blue is a weird one. I wanted to like it more than I actually do.
The opening is dominated by a very sharp pepper accord alongside dry, almost dehydrated pineapple. Despite the name, I wouldn’t describe it as a traditional “blue” fragrance. It’s not particularly aquatic or blue-fresh; it’s more of a watery, blue-fruity scent with a spicy edge. At times, the combination of pepper, dry fruit, and watery freshness even gives me a slightly sweaty impression.
My biggest problem is the development—or lack of it. I genuinely don’t know if this fragrance has much of a drydown. It mostly smells like the opening gradually becoming quieter rather than evolving into something new.
Where Aventish Blue shines is layering. On top of something heavier, it works surprisingly well.
As a standalone fragrance, it’s too thin and incomplete for me. As a layering tool, though? Much more interesting.
