High Octane!

Over the past 10 or 12 years, I’ve switched almost all of my soft plastics over to Z-Man. During that time, Z-Man has dramatically expanded its lineup with new profiles and color options. I love the durability and action of the ElaZtech material, and Z-Man’s jigheads and rigging hooks do a great job of keeping baits firmly in place and weedless, even in challenging conditions. However, one bait that has always stayed in my boat is the Keitech Swing Impact FAT. Z-Man never had a profile that replicated that chunky, ribbed body that just seemed to get bites. . . especially in stained water when nothing else would. Until now. The Octane Minnow has bumped the Swing Impact FAT right out of my boat. It has a similar bulky, ribbed body, but the tail action is even better at slow retrieve speeds. Unlike a lot of traditional paddletails, the Octane also tracks straight without wanting to roll over when you speed it up. And, of course, it’s made from ElaZtech. There’s nothing worse than reeling in after a short strike and discovering that the tail of your bait is gone. With ElaZtech, that simply isn’t an issue. The Octane Minnow may be one of the most versatile baits in the Z-Man lineup. You can rig it on a keel-weighted ZWG, a jighead, or weightless on an EWG. It also makes an excellent swimbait, ChatterBait, swim jig, or spinnerbait trailer. This is the bait I’ve been waiting more than 10 years for Z-Man to make. The Octane Minnow has earned a permanent spot in my boat, and I expect it’ll be catching fish there for a long time.
