My first dip of the toe into the world of journaling.

After being encouraged by several people in my life to adopt a journaling practice, I decided to give it a try. Researching journals for the first time is frankly overwhelming. The goal was to get something simple, flexible in use, and would not need replacing anytime soon. I had no idea going in what terms like “bujo” and “system” meant in regards to this practice, but it was immediately clear that Traveler’s was extremely well regarded. The idea that I could tailor it to be whatever I wanted was a huge plus, since I had no idea what I was doing. Figured it could live and evolve as needed. I ordered the passport cover and a few varied inserts I thought would be useful so I could experiment. Everything arrived quickly, and was packaged beautifully. I did my best to assemble something that didnt feel intimidatingly complex or fiddly, and hoped for the best. I’m only a couple weeks in, here’s what I know. I have never kept a journal in 50+ years….I’ve written every day since. I am more organized and have better insights on my time management. These pages have become the beasts of burden to lighten my mental load. At the end of the day, it’s just a blank notebook with a piece of leather strapped around it….but it was a catalyst that enabled me to begin a positive practice in my life. That’s some cheap therapy. Something about old dogs and new tricks…
