Non tool thumbscrew if hand tightened is suitable for soldering as the pressure needed to keep the tip retained should not be too tight. The thumbsrew does have a notch for flathead or a thin coin to be used to tighten further. However, I used this in an extreme example using CNC kitchens de-insert too and it requires to be tightened further plus the thumbscrew is quite small so gloves may find it difficult to adjust. Longevity-wise I purchased 2 since I am expecting an upgrade this small and with threads will wear down with repeated changes of tips and if accidentally removed and lost while travelling.
