Rajesh and I are back at it, and this time we went dark. Dark Shadows is our second collaboration together, and it takes the powder accord we spent so long perfecting for Pan's Labyrinth and drags it somewhere completely different.
It opens with blood orange and neroli, bright and juicy at first glance, but ambergris is already there unde

I’m loving Dark Shadows. The easiest way I can describe it is like a mix of Pan’s Labyrinth, Easter Egg and a dark rose. I immediately get that familiar powdery softness I associate with Pan’s Labyrinth, but here it feels much darker and heavier. Instead of being comforting and almost dreamy, the powder is surrounded by this deep rose, woods, tobacco and something resinous that gives the whole thing a completely different personality. There’s also something about the density of it that reminds me of Easter Egg. Not because they smell the same, they definitely don’t, but they share that thick, dark, slightly dirty quality that I love. Dark Shadows just replaces Easter Egg’s sweeter, almost sticky character with rose and darker woods. And the rose is probably what ties everything together for me. This isn’t a fresh or romantic rose. It feels dark, almost shadowy, and it sits beautifully against the powder. Considering Pan’s Labyrinth was the fragrance that started my Lost Tribe journey and Easter Egg is one of my favorites from the house, I guess it makes sense that I’m enjoying Dark Shadows this much. It feels like pieces of both of them were pulled into something new rather than just copied. This one has a very real chance of becoming one of my favorites.
