I want to like this bag because the concept is cool
I want to like this bag. I have spent a lot of time looking for the perfect climbing bag, went through the reviews and thought this was it. I think the bones are there, but the execution is lacking. Without going into details, this pack tries to do everything but just falls short a bit on all fronts, but it still works as a pack. For this price point I would not enthusiastically recommend it. For reference, I am almost exclusively a boulderer which will bias my opinion. I have had this bag for 6 months now. (Dec2026-June2026). I have used it as a gym bag and outdoor trips (traveled via car and plane, whole day sessions). I've tried organic packs (boulder roll), tension packs (the first version of the aux pack), one-bags, and general 30L hiking packs in the past for similar amounts of time (6mo-1yr). Pros - 2 water bottle holders. Most bags have 1 or even none which is crazy. I usually carry around an enormous water bottle and a drink that has carbs (gatorade, etc.) - Can be a backpack or tote. Amazing. - Fairly spacious main pocket even if you account for the cons below. Cons - Ain't no way I'm fitting my shoes and chalk bucket in the front pocket. If you care about your shoes and they are downturned/aggressive this pocket will flatten them out. Which means: - Shoes and chalk end up going in the big black hole pocket. Which is fine, most other packs do this too. But this means laptop, clean clothes, etc. is out. This defeats the feasibility of a "daily" bag, because it doesn't carry anything but climbing gear. - This means skincare kits need their own minibag inside, or need to be in the front pocket to stay clean/chalk free. - The front pocket is difficult to use if your main pack is full. - The backpack straps loosen too easily. - Stuff just falls out of the top sometimes. - The zipper tie/knot-string things all fell off within a month or so. Neutral Notes - If I put shoes in the big pocket, I can carry ~2 pairs of shoes, 3 total if I hang one pair outside. - Lots of carabiner clipping options. - Lots of pockets for organization on the inside that I don't use but that is a personal thing.

Great bag for the gym! Well laid out and plenty of room for a rope, shoes, chalk, harness, belay devices, clothes, and everything else you need.

Amazing backpack! I love the design, the color, and the amount of space this totepack holds. I’ve brought it with me as a work bag that holds my laptop and journal, then all I do is go straight to the climbing gym because the rest of my climbing equipment is with me. I especially found Jono to be very helpful and is just overall a very pleasant person to work with. I’ve told my other climbing buddies about Megabeta and I also am certainly going to be buying from Jono again!
