Nikon ZR 6K Cinema Camera

Excellent Camera and Great Buying Experience

I’m very impressed with the Nikon ZR 6K Cinema Camera. The image quality, dynamic range, colors, and overall performance are excellent for professional video production. The camera has been a great addition to my filmmaking work, especially for cinematic content and commercial projects. My experience purchasing from AVC Photo & Video was also very positive. The order was fulfilled quickly and everything arrived as expected. Highly recommended!

The good outweighs the bad for me.

There’s an old expression in the film business about production. Everybody wants good everybody wants fast. Everybody wants cheap. pick any two for what it is- this Nikon is cheap. And It is really is beautiful as long as you stay in red raw. Is it easy? No Would I use it on a professional job? Not happily,it’s too fiddly. Nikon has the technology to do world class cinematography at their fingertips. It appears that they spent little time with professional cinematographers to find out a lot of what’s important. It almost feel like they don’t know what they have with the red color space but this is just a personal opinion so check everything I say here and do your own research - if you can get your hands on one of these before you buy it by all means do so and check if it is for you. It is a great leap forward in many ways both the screen and the images can be breathtaking. so I could go on for pages there’s a lot to unpack. I can find no difference in data from the high-quality switch and the medium quality switch, which means that probably they don’t have the medium quality sorted out yet it seems the setting does nothing so if you’re shooting red, you’re in high-quality if you’re used to working with other Mirrorless cameras, and you’re shooting 6K take a deep breath prepare yourself to be overwhelmed by data unless you’re shooting short form all that said if you go to 4K raw, it’s quite good and you get a couple of hours from 640 GB which to me is worth it . a note the new superfast four series cards are wasted on this camera. I got much better performance from the I can’t remember the details of the card, but it’s the 320 or 640 GB Sandisc gold, which are cheaper than the Sandisk extremes pros I was shooting a non-repeatable event, the demolition of a building at 60 frames, the camera would only run seven seconds with a Sandisc extreme pro. I wish I had known prior! The640 Gold runs everything I have tried and it’s much cheaper. So this is a camera that needs a lot of work -personally I’d rather pay twice as much and have a dedicated silent Ltc time code and some other things but for now I’ve just bolted a mix pre to the bottom of it and I’m getting what I want from it. The auto focus is great Nikon 24 to 70 is sharp as a tack clear as a bell A shout out to Paula AKA Cat at AVC you guys are great if I lived in Miami I would get everything I need from you because you’re delightful to deal with.
