Newbie here
I have never played a flute and have found that it is fun! It's fairly easy to get a tune. There are plenty of introductory videos to watch and I started with the ones I Am Sound provided. Be patient and practice is what I'm telling myself. The flute I got has some cosmetic abnormalities. One of the holes is bigger and that does make that specific hole more of a challenge but with practice I am making it work and having fun.

Beautiful for solos
I have purchased flutes in several keys, and the E4 quickly became my second favorite (C4 is my #1.) The E4 has a really nice resonance and sounds beautiful playing through the right barrel and with the drone as well. I am learning alternate scales (hijaz) on it, and it still produces a rich tone going above the E5 octave (top note of pentatonic scale.) This instrument has become a favorite at my yoga classes as well, since the bottom notes are still quite soothing while higher notes are bright and striking.
