Stormy Kromer Waxed Field Cap
George “Stormy” Kromer was a ballplayer turned railroad engineer who kept losing his cap to the wind. In 1903, his wife Ida sewed him a wool baseball cap with a pull-down ear band, and the Kromer cap earned its place the honest way: by staying on.

This was my first purchase from DECOY, but I know Stormy Kromer products well, and this hat holds up to their standard. I was glad to see it can be registered like any other Kromer, so it's covered by Kromer's lifetime warranty and their lost or stolen replacement program. That's a big reason I trust these hats.
I went with the Waxed FrogSkin Camo. The construction, material, and pattern are all excellent, though the color runs a bit darker in person than it looks online.
I wore it opening weekend of the Minnesota duck season. Saturday was wet all day, and it performed as expected: water resistant, not waterproof. Sunday was warm and the cap hadn't fully dried overnight, so it was a bit steamy in the morning until it dried out. It's a warm hat in general, great for cold mornings, but above about 60°F it gets sweaty.
It fits just like a normal Stormy Kromer. I normally wear a 7 3/8, which DECOY doesn't offer, so I went with the L-7 1/2. It still fits pretty securely, but I'll have to watch it on windy early-morning runs to the duck hole. If you're between sizes, plan on sizing up.
Shipping went as expected. Half a star off for the color difference from the photos and the limited size options. Otherwise I'm happy with my purchase and would buy again.

Feels good to have a Kromer again. Two different people have already commented on it while hunting “I need to get one of those”

I put it on straight out of the box and it fit and felt great. I have several stormy Kromer hats and this actually felt the best right away.
