Wollemi V4 - 6" Flat Lap and Lapidary Saw

I am very new to the lapidary processes, but the Wollemi v4 has made it so much more accessible. I am experiencing some lessons learned for sure. I haven’t used the saw yet but love the flat lap. It has been exciting to see the transformations. The only issue I had was the water valve knob doesn’t fit because the thread was inserted at an angle. But that is a nit pick. It is definitely worth the purchase. Thank you for making this available!

Almost Perfect (for the price)

The machine is almost perfect for what it is. I've actually been quite delighted with the cutting and polishing performance. Very fun and useful for the price! The one criticism I have is that the water feed system seems to be made of vibes and hope. The way it works is that as water drips down the hose, back pressure builds up in the closed bottle which wants to pull in air, but the only place it can do that is through the hose. So you end up vacuum locked if the bottle is firmly attached. To solve this problem you have to loosen the bottle just a smidge and then air is sucked in through the not-air-tight bottle threads. This is fine if your bottle has no holes and you close the valve because it vacuum locks the water inside the bottle, same as it does to the hose. The PROBLEM is that if you solve the vacuum lock the normal way, which is to put a hole in your bottle, the water flows out the hose, yes, but it also flows out through the bottle cap threads, as there is no gasket in there. To me this just doesn't feel like intentional design. It feels like a kludge that happened to work and you have to pray to your torque ancestors to make sure your water feed is working correctly. Ideally, the system would have a dedicated air feed duct AND a gasket. It just says "this was made on purpose and if you put it together the way you think it should work, it does work" Thus four stars despite being a 5 star machine otherwise for the price. 5 star product, i had the previous version which was great but this upgrade has sorted all the little issues out, its silent, it doesn’t vibrate when using, its a solid device, i use it for cutting, shaping and polishing opals. Customer service is great, delivey of the orodict is fast and they take grest care and attention of each product. I highly recommend this wollemi machines
