With solar, the camera is self powered constantly. I get about 300 yard range with the receiver inside the house sitting on a windowsill. It needs to link to your wifi router with an ethernet cable, but then it's linked to the app in your phone anywhere you happen to be. If you set clear lanes I'm sure you can get better range. I have very thick woods and a cinder block wall with 300 yards. I'm using it as a security camera more than a trail cam.

Love them. The only reason I didn’t do 5 stars is I have one showing offline yet I checked it and it sent me a picture about is in fact online. I have one tested one camera in the woods roughly 1000 feet and can’t get a signal according to the camera. The solar panels keep them at 100% and that will save a ton not having to replace batteries .

Works pretty good considering there are a lot of trees around. Not happy that you removed the option to lock the door closed. It would be very easy for someone to open it up and take the SD card and destroy the inside of the camera. Had I realized that when I purchased them, I would not have bought them.
