Perfectly proportioned rocket

The Optima Pro is a very impressive mid powered rocket. It is slightly over 4 feet tall and 2 1/2 inches in diameter. It goes together easily but it helps to have several builds behind you. The plywood fins are through the body and attached to the motor tube. Under the nose cone is a very spacious cargo space. I originally wanted to reverse the fins but then they would stick out past the body about an inch. I think it is one of the most aesthetically pleasing of the Estes line. There is plenty of prismatic sticker material to add some personal touches. The maroon prismatic tape is wider than shown on the pictures so you might want to trim them to follow the pictures. Overall I am very pleased with the rocket. With its 29 mm motor tube you can go into the low range of high power motors. It is built that sturdy. It still used the tri fold method for the shock cord (which is 1/2 in braided) so you might want to invest in aramid cord and attach to the motor mount and consider a baffle, it uses a lot of wadding. The nylon 24 inch parachute is nice. I am glad to have purchases this rocket, it has all the right stuff.

I love the look of it. I haven’t started the build yet. But I am excited to get started. I still wish that Estes could go back in the vault and bring back more of the earlier models. If you look on line you would see my point.
