Rock Solid and Beautiful
This was the only Dumbbell rack on the market that could do what I needed. I have two sets of heavy adjustable Dumbbells that I wanted to store neatly on one small rack (130lb PowerBlock & 120lb RepxPepin). To make it work took a little customization, and I had to put the whole thing together and take it apart several times, but I did so with ease each time. So, the fitment of everything is awesome, and extremely durable. And with over 500 lbs front loaded on this thing, it's still rock solid stable. So, this is a quality piece.
Let me detail what I did, and explain some issues, and things that may be helpful for you:
1.) I bought the taller Alpha rack and an extra set of Dumbbell arms.
2.) The vertical post can be flipped upside down if you need to. It has a Synergy symbol instead of a hole in one spot. I found this problematic because I needed to bolt something in that hole to make everything fit. Flipping the post upside down put the Synergy symbol in a new spot, and everything fit the way I needed it to.
3.) Dumbbell arms can be bolted to the lowest hole, but it requires spacers on the back bracket. Luckily Synergy gives you tons of washers. I stacked 2 washers on the back of each bottom bolt and 3 washers (1 large and 2 small) on the back of the top bolt of the triangle. This allowed the back bracket to fit snugly, and the rack is still rock solid.
4.) Once I put everything together i didn't like the height of the front post, so I cut it down with an angle grinder, and then just used the square endcap Synergy provided. The rack is now 35" tall, so it is possible that their Bravo rack (at 32.5") may have worked for this setup as well.
5.) There are options out there to store your RepxPepin and your Powerblock change plates (Etsy worked for me). However, I couldn't find anything ready made for the Powerblocks, so I bought "Rep Fitness Ares 1.0 Adder Weight Holders," and I cut a little rubber form to make the weights fit a better.
6.) My only issue is that the metal coating on the platforms is easily scratched. While the RepxPepin's sit in a cradle, the Powerblocks do not. So, as I slide (as opposed to place perfectly from above) the 130lb Powerblocks back on the platform, the Powerblock scratches the platform. If you have some leftover gym mats, you could cut a piece and put it down. I may just use touch-up paint every now and then.
7.) The only quality control issue I experienced is that each of the Dumbbell pads have an "S" engraved on it. One of my pads was installed upside down, so the "S" is backwards. But, it's covered by the Dumbbell, so it wasn't worth it to me to even let the company know (other than this review).
